Re-Fashioned cons

Well, things have improved slightly. Graf is still in hosptial but it's a bit better. Nuff said.

I decided to Jazz up my Converse shoes last night (btw- I can't say the word "Jazz" without thinking of this pic!!!)

RightO, back to the point! I decided that my plain old black cons needed a bit of a re-vamp so I decided to spruce them up a bit so I’ll wear them more often! I love them dearly, but my mum insists that they’re not proper “going out” shoes. So I’m hoping a little glitter and a pretty design will change her mind!

They were REALLY easy to do.

1. Draw the design onto tissue paper, and position it onto the shoe and alter until it looks right
2. With tailors chalk (or any chalk) outline your design on the REVERSE SIDE of the paper.
3. Lie the design chalk side down onto the shoe and rub over it for a few seconds until your design is transferred onto the shoe. This may seem like an arduous task, but it means that you will get identical designs on each shoe.
4. Use glitter fabric paint to fill in the design.
5. Once the paint is spread evenly, cover the entire design in fine powder glitter. This gives the best results as you need several layers of the fabric paint for it to look really “glittery”

And Viola! A new pair of cons!!

So Much News

Well, it has been a crazy week. On a sad note, my darling grandfather was taken to hospital after a nasty fall. He has leukaemia and needs blood transfusions, but they now think he’s developed an infection from the last transfusion. He’s still in hospital, but fingers crossed he’ll be ok.

On a brighter note, it was my birthday on Monday, and I got lots of goodies from my loving family. One of the best pressies was a bag of buttons from my Ma!!

It has one of the largest, and one of the smallest buttons I have ever seen!! (that’s my pinky finger in the shot to give you an idea!)
Plus there were some awesome little buttons in the shape of a nun, kitty, pilgrim and a few other shapes (sorry about the bad pics!!) They are sooo cute!!
I have also been a little slack with my wardrobe re-fashioning, but hopefully I can get a little bit done this weekend. It’s been so crazy I just haven’t had the time! BUT, I haven’t purchased any new clothes which is still a good thing! :)

Pinafore Top

I've posted this on the Wardrobe Refashion site ....

Well, I am very proud of myself because normally the things I make are from my head, and I create my own patterns. But last night I decided to bite the bullet use a pattern to make myself a pinafore top. I used the old reliable Simplicity 4589 pattern.

I ammended the pattern and made it a little bit longer and added a few embellishments (ribbon and buttons)

Apologies for the blurry pics!! :)

Beaded Bookmarks

I made a few of these last night, and already a friend wants to buy them!!! YAY!!!

Apron for a Friend

A friend of mine has just moved out of home in her first place, and after a day of cleaning, she declared herself “Suzy Homemaker” – if she only had an apron!
So I decided for her house warming I would make her one! I made the pattern myself, and used material from my stash.
My friend adored it! I love the summery print on the material – and frangipannis are her (and my) favourite flower.

Brooches

A new little project for me - handmade brooches. Think I might make more and sell them on Etsy. We'll see what happens!

World Wide Knit in Public Day!!

I have a hectic day on Saturday, but I'd love to do this!!! Sign ups closed in May, but I reckon I could just tag along!!
It's worldwide - but for Sydneysiders...
Kris Howard from web-goddess.org, is hosting a gathering from 2 pm onwards at the Sidewalk Cafe + Bar: Lower Concourse, Sydney Opera House

Off Topic Rant....

Since when did it become "Ok to PICK things while in public???

Yesterday, I was quite disgusted by the behaviour of 2 people on my bus in the morning and afternoon. In the morning, a well dressed man sat opposite me, smiled then proceeded to pick his nose from Ryde to North Sydney (that’s about a 40 minute ride!!) I actually moved seats.
Then in the afternoon, a lady with an elongated pinky nail decided she would clean her ears with said nail. She fussed about with her fingers in her ear and then had the hide to discard what she had removed from her ear, onto the floor of the bus. I gave her a glaring look and asked if she would mind not doing that again.

It made me so mad that people can be so disgusting in public!! Where have peoples manners gone?

DREAM Shop!!

WOW – What a dream shop!! A whole shop FILLED with buttons!!

Getting Prepared for the Challenege!

My name is Bec, and I have a "Hoarding" problem.......

To really get into the Wardrobe Refashion Challenge, I thought I would go through my wardrobe and see what I can “re-fashion”.
I realised that
1. I have a shoe problem. Are there AA meetings for this type of thing?? This is only half of my shoe collection!!!! (buttons my kitty decided to get into the action too!)

2. I have WAAAAAY too many clothes!! The 2 suitcases, 2 bags on the bed and 2 garbage bags are all clothes that won’t fit in my wardrobe.

Slightly “cleaner” closet- still chockers though - there are 3 other doors filled with stuff!!

I think this challenge is going to me the world of good!!!

Plus – I managed to close up the circle and gave some clothes to Vinnies as well.
